In the past, the restaurant was a gathering place for prominent artists and politicians on their way to Parliament through the beautiful provincial town of Frederiksværk, in the beautiful lake area Arresø. Originally the restaurant was called Madam Schiøtt and was known for its great food. The name came from a Madam Schiøtt, who ran Frederiksværk`s first inn and mercantile in the 1780’s. It was located in the exact site on the market place where Hotel Frederiksværk was built in the 1800’s. Today its majestic architecture and glowing golden tones still stand out in the landscape as a national cultural treasure.
